I’m not sure about you, but I am generally a big fan of anything Google creates. I happen to use Picasa, Google desktop, Sketch-up, and gmail, so when several websites I frequent suggested using Google’s web accelerator, I jumped right in expecting my cruising speed to increase like I had just jumped out of a VW fox into my new Ferrari. Unfortunately, that’s not exactly how it went down. I’ve been using it for about a day now and according to the web accelerator display, I’ve saved a whopping 24.8 seconds! I know what you’re thinking: wowza! that’s a lot of valuable time I’ve saved. It’s almost enough time to enjoy Dane Cook’s one funny joke(or prepare half of a serving of minute rice). However, whilst browsing the ‘net, I stumbled upon an error message which read something to the effect of “you must disable web accelerator to view this page”. I was astounded! Since when does Google hinder my viewing pleasure, usually they do just the opposite. However, then a thought occurred to me. Maybe this was how it saved you time. By not showing you the page at all, it saves you valuable time you would’ve spent reading them and instead leaves you free to do something else of your choosing. Sarcasm aside however, I probably should have waited more than a day before writing any sort of review of Google’s web accelerator, so in closing, I’ll leave it up to you to judge whether or not it is worth having. Good luck, and enjoy your new virtual time-saving Ferrari.
